Climate change makes it necessary to make sustainable choices. In Climate Tables you will decide how the Dutch climate policy will look like in the coming years.
The game focuses on three major issues: reducing emissions, limiting costs and realizing public support. Together with your fellow players, you determine the approach to these topics at different tables. In several rounds you make choices and the effects become visible throughout the years.
Effective climate policy requires cooperation, clear choices and also a bit of luck. You experience all these elements in Climate Tables. You will encounter real-life dilemmas and experience how, in a fun way, you can come to solutions.
There are nine tables in the game: five Sector tables and four Theme tables. Each player plays at one of the following Sector tables:

At the Sector tables, you make choices about costs and emissions. The Theme Tables are all about public support. As a player, because you have a role at both types of tables, you have influence on all topics.
All tables are interconnected. This makes each player essential to a successful outcome. By finding the right balance between collaboration and achieving the goals at your own table, you will get the best results.
Anyone of (approximately) sixteen years and older! It's suitable for companies, governments, conferences, student associations, schools and many more organizations and occasions. An interest in climate policy is helpful, but you don't need any other prior knowledge.
The game is most fun with a group of 20 players, but is playable with 12 to 24 players.
Climate policy is complex, you will experience this in the game. You will learn by playing and facilitators will help you with your questions. It isn't necessary to be a climate expert to be able to play it. The game is challenging but is accessible to many knowledge levels and backgrounds.
The game is available in both Dutch and English.
Typically between two and three hours, but this can be determined together.

Climate Tables was created in the context of the negotiations for the National Climate Agreement in 2019. The main motivation was to bring this comprehensive document to life in a fun way. The structure of the tables, and its topics, is similar to the chapters in the accord. The agreements made in the National Climate Agreement are not included in the game, but the issues associated with them are.
